Ready for Christmas?

Not that my plate is not full enough already...because it is overflowing...Im ready to decorate for Christmas! What is my problem? I usually hate Christmas with a passion. Why? Im really not a scrooge...I just think the whole world turned retail crazy.
Now I do have 6 kids, so that could play a big part. Two teenagers, a tween, two toddlers and a baby..yes we already know we are crazy. But hear me out..the toddlers can not make it through one episode of Dora the Explorer without being interrupted by many toy commercials, the Sunday paper is filled with Toy Books.... The Santa list was in the making before Halloween decorations were packed away urghhh... oh well
And here I am...encouraging Christmas to come to the Teti House sooner :)

Long Time No Blog

Another summer has come...I can say that I have not only opened a new chapter in my life since the last time I have blogged, I have opened a entirely new book.
I started a home bakery, which was something I had always wanted to do. I am hoping to one day move in to a actual building of my own..however...in the mean time this will for sure make do! :)
My two teenage step daughters now reside in our home, so I am now a full time mother of six. Instead of being overwhelmed, which I will admit at times I feel like I am in the weeds, I feel a sense of fullness in my family. We are now complete!
Emily has a learning permit to drive our car and a part time job!
Amanda...well lets just say she is enjoying summer and all it brings! ;-)
Jimmy is loving his summer and break from boy scouts and school.
Gianna will be turning four tomorrow!! Holy hell, where has the time gone?!
Olivia is bright and smart..following swiflty in all of her older sisters footsteps.
Sophia is busy absorbing all that she can, growing teeth, and deciding whether she is content with crawling or should start to walk.
Jim and I spend our time running to catch up with our children and our marriage to each other. We are now understanding the concept of "scheduled" time together! :-D

Update on my finals

So as of last night my instructor still had not sent the necessary feedback to complete my assignment that is due tomorrow (tomorrow which is July 4th) so fuck me if I wanted to get my work done early so I can celebrate the holiday with my family!
This afternoon she finally posts our feedback with this message,
"This is a reminder that your week 8 checkpoint: research paper revision is due tomorrow, but make sure you take time to celebrate Independence Day. It only comes once a year. Please let me know if you have any questions."
Ummm yes I have a question....how do you expect me to "celebrate" when I am writing your damn paper at the last minute? All because you chose to turn your work in the last munte, now Im forced to do the same or I receive a daily penalty off of my grade for tardiness. Funny how a college instructor can have such expectations yet does not hold herself to those standards. What a good example she is setting for her students!

Closing out my recent class

So I have come to the end of my most recent Communications class and it is down to the finals, which is always a research paper. The norm in these classes is to turn in a rough draft of your paper and then a peer reviews it as well as the instructor, returns the paper with their feedback, you make corrections and resubmit it up to the last day of class. So I have an assignment that is due Sunday, two days from now, on how the feedback of the instructor and that of my peer has helped me to prepare my final paper. This assignment is 200-300 words long....the problem is, neither has actually submitted my feedback yet! Seeing this is a holiday weekend you would think people would want to turn their work in and get it out of the way...or at least turn it in so you can get it out of the way :-(
So much for professionalism on a college level.

Gianna's 3rd Birthday Weekend

Once again another year has came and passed. One more llittle girl is to be born and one more will age another year. Every year I try to think of a better way to celebrate that requires less work on my ~~and Jim~~s behalf, while still allowing the kids to have their own special party day and presents. This year I decided to rent out the Heritage Hill pavilion in White Oak. The rental fee was only $25 and the playground attached was really big and nice. I figured $25 was well worth the money so I didnt have to prepare my house before and after for a boatload of people, cut grass, not to metion find the yard space. I didnt have to worry about activities really since there was so much to do, and the family members could avoid each other easily. Bonus!

Jims buddy from work was hosting a graduation party at his home for his teenage son and asked if I wouldnt mind making my candy popcorn. Jim agrees (without asking me first) and I said sure! I ordered movie theatre popcorn boxes and bought tons of ingredients and made box after box of carmel nut popcorn.

I realized this morning that we no longer have a schedule we operate on as we once did in the past, and the need to get back on track. Every morning I wake up to the sound of my daughters clammering above me, screaming, laughing, jumping on their beds. The same routine happens everyday here in the Teti house:
Jims wakes up for work, feeds the animals and leaves..
I wake up and change the children, make breakfast...
And that all seems fine until...
Until I have to start the paperwork and phone calls that are needed to run this crazy house. I know that my lack of organization is the reason its stressful on me, but there are times when it is near impossible to keep up with daily chores. All it takes is one thing to fall out of place and the whole day can go off track.

After logging Jimmy onto school I realized I was 6 months back on Internet Reimbursment forms, seriously!? Thats like $300 that could be sitting in our savings account. Then I notice Jimmy is eligible for Sylvan tutoring at no cost to me, provided by the school. Print out all 25 pages of forms, options, and contact information...fill it all out, call and leave messages with school. Waiting on call back
Start looking through bill folder and notice our auto insurance is due today...err. Call and pay that
While Im on the phone people are chanting in the background "EAT EAT" Oops, lunch time
Grill sandwiches and serve fruit
It occurs to me that I have yet to register for the Race for The Cure...Call friend and register online, chat for a couple minutes..
Wonder to myself when we are going to get the garden ready.??
Put the children to sleep and just sitting here now, really loving the cool breeze blowing through my window. Got homework to complete, a floor to sweep and mop, cloths to wash, a shower to take...

Seriously...WTF is Comcast's problem? Why is there a different problem with this equipment and service everyday? Why in the hell should I have to spend an hour a day on the phone doing their stupid trouble shooting techniques?

I had to make a trip to K-mart to buy some Spring cleaning products. New pants hangers, stand up cloths racks, Febreeze, and all new planting products. Why did I have to buy all new seeds, shovels, etc? Because my ~~good for nothing~~ loving dog decided to eat everything inside of my bucket for the garden. All of my seeds had to be replaced and it was really expensive...and really irritating.
Add that to the cost for the carpeting on the glassporch he peed on and dug up, the curtains throughout my house he ripped down, medication and vet visit bills for double ear infection, anxiety, allergies, vaccinations, plus getting him fixed and I would say that Hemi is starting to over stay his welcome in my home.

My daughter refuses to go potty. I mean seriously, one couldnt actually prefer to pee their pants right? Olivia runs to the potty chart, points, and sits on Gianna's potty chair. Why wont Gianna sit on her potty chair?
We tried Pull-Ups to no avail, she just treated them like diapers and wet in them. She didnt seem to mind that they felt different or "wetter", nope, not at all. Then Jim bought her Disney Princess underwear...so she climbed on his new ottoman and peed on it. Through the underwear, right onto his brand new couch! He was so mad, he said the livingroom is going to smell like a zoo... Oh whatever, at this point I am past caring. I am tired of hearing "she just isnt ready". YES SHE IS, she is stubborn and being lazy. We have sticker charts, fancy potty chairs, potty books, potty songs and DVD's, she could care less. I bribe her with snack size candy bars, not even M&M's like the pediatrician advised! Still no breaking her.

We thought we made it through the winter storm pretty much unaffected, we were happy the gutters didnt all rip off with the giant iceburgs that were falling off of our house. So I wanted to grill the other day, and Jim pulled out the metal pieces of what remained of our gas grill....
Off to the Home Depot to replace grill...Spring is looking good so far

What in the hell am I going to do with this dog when I go to Hershey?

I did buy all of my dinner for Easter already. Just need simple things like buns and tomatoes. I already stuffed the baskets for the kids and neices and nephews. Just have to stuff the eggs for Easter hunt and its looking good so far.

I made a trip to Gabe's early this week and got a ton of dress cloths for Jim for so cheap. Mens dress shirts, ties, socks, belts, pants. I even bought shorts and Tshirts for him. I bought the girls a bunch of summer cloths and Jimmy shirts and shorts. Half of the cloths I bought Jim unfortunately didnt fit so I had to take them back and exchange them, and when I was shopping I found racks of Motherhood Maternity cloths really cheap too. I bought myself a bunch of pants, shorts, dresses, etc. Total=less than $300 for the entire shopping trips together.

I think I will get that maternity picture I wanted since this will be the last little one we have.

I hear its going to be almost 80 degrees this week...maybe I can wear one of my new dresses.

First we visited the Easter Bunny! You can tell by their lovely smiles that the girls could have lived without seeing him.

Then we rode the train...which they loved until the guy that ran the train tried talking with them. They got out as fast as possible!

So we took the girls to Build A Bear and they built bunnies ! So cute, the hearts were shamrocks :)

Then we took Miss Olivia to Claire's to have her ears pierced!

Jimmy opted out of building a bear for a new Wii game instead!

Just when you think you can look forward to Florida weather, you hear it is almost as cold there right now! The US is in deep freeze :(
Poor DH shoveled more snow this week then all of last year. We dont even want to go out and play in it anymore, just want it to go away now.
On a good note I ordered girl scout cookies! Tomorrow I think I will make homemade soup and bake :) Maybe that will warm my family up.

My Mom bought Jimmy Wii Resorts and I really have been playing it for hours now, even days! Jim was playing Lego Rock Band yesterday and Jimmy had friends over playing Lego Indiana Jones. I love this Wii! It was last years Christmas present for Jimmy from my Mom and we play it constantly. Santa brought Tony Hawk Ride & Band Hero for the PS3 (damn stores were all sold out for the Wii). I want to skateboard :(

Everything for our little girls was pink and Disney Princess, so cute! My brother and his girlfriend stayed until 4:30 AM helping with assembly of the My First Kennmore appliances and toy boxes, Jim and I were up even later. Jimmy got his new dirtbike, gear, Band Hero and loads of other games for his PS3, Wii, and DS. He played all day! The kids are all so happy, and it makes Jim and I so happy to see them surprised with what Santa had brought for them. We are thankful for our family this year.

My parents took me to the Byham Theater to see The Christmas Carol today and it was amazing. They managed to transform the stage right in front of you from scene to scene and did an amazing job with the three ghosts of Christmas. The scene with Little Timmy brought tears to my eyes and Scrooge made me laugh. If you have a chance to go, it is well worth seeing.

Ok so Olivia had the cutest pair of cream colored baby Uggs and she absolutely hates shoes! These just so happened to slip on and off so she managed to pull them off and screamed every time we put them back on her. So this year not only is she traumatized from Santa Claus, she looks like a bare footed homeless baby. But at least Gianna didnt have a fit as well! We will chalk this one up as a good Santa photo.

15-Year-Old Accidentally Shot In Liberty Borough

A 15-year-old boy is recovering after an accidental shooting in Liberty Borough.

An official with the Pennsylvania Game Commission says the boy was hunting with some friends when his 12-gauge shotgun went off.

The bullet entered near his lower right ribs and exited through his shoulder. His vital organs were not hit.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital and he's said to be conscious and alert.

He is listed in serious condition.

I have successfully completed yet another class with an A. Rock on! That is 12 credits for this school under my belt so far. DH has successfully completed his first class with an A as well. I start new classes tomorrow and he gets a week off. (lucky!)
I must start to prepare my list of baking goods and square away some more Christmas shopping. I picked up DH's lay a way on Friday, bunch of cloths and guy stuff. Got it all wrapped and hidden away in the attic. Now I must finish the kids and my family. I will say that I will be ecstatic when I have everything payed off and bought. Sad that Christs birthday is such a consumer holiday, ruins everything.
Now that DH is home from hunting and all finals are complete, I can actually shower and go to sleep before 3AM for the first time this week!! Tomorrow is the speech therapist and Jimmy's homework ((((sigh.....)))

I am so tired at this point, I mean really tired. Just a few hours of sleep, almost a whole half a pot of coffee down and I am ready to pass out. Finals will do this each at every time. Of course trying to ~~write Jim's essays~~ help Jim write his essays on top of my own is so tiring. Its the whole compiling thousands of words into a APA format over and over, on top of researching and outlining. Then there is Jimmy's work.
Oh then Christmas shopping is a scary scary thing. We already spent so much and yet the list keeps growing somehow. How does this get so out of control? It goes from celebrating Jesus's birthday to bankrupting us.
On an even crazier note, I read on my Yahoo homepage today that a couple paid a national forest for a Christmas tree. Not just a tree farm where you cut one of their trees down and they take it back and wrap it up...no! They drove their Subura into the forest, attempted to hike to the top of a mountain to cut down a rare tree that is only found in high elevation and has not returned. So here's the part I found crazy. The same couple, did the exact thing last year and got lost. These people have 4 children and the wife is a diabetic. What in the hell are you thinking? Its Christmas assholes, what about your kids! You risk your lives over a Christmas tree?! What is going on in this place

Whether George Kelly was helping to raise his siblings, working to educate his children or fighting for his country, it was in keeping with the tenets of his Christian faith.

"Dad never did anything half-way," said his daughter, Janice Kugler. "His commitments were always 110 percent. It was part of his Methodist upbringing of reaching out to others."

George William Kelly, of White Oak, a member of the board of trustees of Wesley United Methodist Church in McKeesport, died Friday, June 16, 2006, in UPMC McKeesport. He was 81.

"Dad was one of 10 children," Kugler added. "My grandfather, Calvin Kelly, died when my father was 16. Dad dropped out of school and up until he entered the Army, he was helping to raise his younger brothers and sisters.

"He even volunteered to stay behind so one of his brothers, who had the opportunity to attend college, could attend.

"And even after my grandmother, Lillie, died, Dad continued to be the one his brothers and sisters could call up for help and advice."

In 1942, Mr. Kelly enlisted in the Army and as a member of the 4th Armored Division, he saw action at the Battle of the Bulge.

"Dad often recalled how proud he was to have participated in a war against oppression and tyranny," said his daughter. "He was a patriot who loved this country."

Following his discharge in 1945, Mr. Kelly was employed by U.S. Steel as a production scheduling supervisor. He retired in the late 1970s.

Kugler recalled her father's commitment to his Methodist faith as another milestone in his life.

"As a boy, Dad, along with his family, attended the Free Methodist Church in McKeesport, which is a very strict Methodist denomination," said his daughter. "It was here that he began his desire to serve an important tenet of his Christian faith -- that of reaching out to others."

In 1948, George Kelly married Doris Rebecca Oyler, a resident of McKeesport, who was employed in the offices of Westinghouse Air Brake Corp. in Wilmerding.

"Both Mom and Dad were active members of the Wesley United Methodist Church in McKeesport," recalled Kugler.

Mr. Kelly served on the building committee when the congregations of the Ballantyne and Coursin Methodist churches merged to become Wesley United Methodist Church and a new building was erected in 1968.

Mr. Kelly was also an active on the board of trustees of Wesley United Methodist and Wesley United Methodist Men.

"Dad understood the importance sports had in the development of young men and he coached the McKeesport Knights softball team, besides the softball and baseball teams at our church," said Kulger.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Doris Rebecca Oyler Kelly; children, Joyce Heady, of South Pasadena, Fla., Clifton Kelly, of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Janice Kugler, of White Oak; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Annabelle Haidle-Tomak, of Dayton, Ohio, and Jeanne Carlson, of Milton, Del.

Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by his sisters, June Whitehead, Dorothy Stumme-Pishko and Lillie May Walsh and brothers Clifton, Calvin, Charles and Glenn Kelly.

I am a list writer, organizer, type A woman. I have to say that the month of October's chore list was starting to look scary there for a moment, even for me!
I'm happy to announce that we survived the majority of the monster load of tasks that had to be accomplished thus far.
1) Bought Halloween costumes
2) Made treats and bags for Boy Scouts Halloween Party
3) Successfully completed my last class and finals
4) Bought truckloads of Halloween decorations for Olivia's 1st birthday party
5) Decorated the house for Halloween and put up half the party decor so far
6) Bought girls matching outfits for pictures (that wasn't easy)
7) Had pictures taken in pretty matching outfits and princess costumes. They turned out absolutely beautiful.
8) Sam's Club visit, bought all food for party so far and household items
9) Made it to build a bear for Olivia's Birthday Bear! And Gianna built one too.
10) Tracked down the family's cake baker and ordered cake and cupcakes for party
11) Made treat bags for Olivia's party
12) Got the kids to Triple B to pick apples and pumpkins
13) Made it back from Disney World alive
14) Planted mums on all of our families graves (one of the tasks I dislike)

Well we are down to the line with the Disney World Trip. I started that countdown at 17o and some odd days...yes I hand made 170 pull off papers to amuse my son. Here we are, only two left! All laundry is washed, all store items are bought, all bills are paid up, fridge is stocked, house is clean, funds are set aside. I put the pins and lanyards together today and hung the costumes. I bought traveling items from Walmart, Lysol, Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizer. Traveling through Pittsburgh and then Orlando Airport should be a pretty germy experience. Then our hotel and 4 amusement parks, buses, restaurants...ohhhh Swine Flu dont get us!
Oh goodness I almost forgot, Im Snow White and my Mom and kid are pirates! lol

My Mom did a Keratin Hair Treatment on my hair, which is awesome. She cut and colored it, I got money and spa gift cards! Jim bought me my picnic bench I've been asking for and had a little party for me. Big old 29!

Toddlers and Tiaras

I watched my first ever episode of TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras. One mom in particular, Mrs Sterling, has twin girls and they both compete in the pageants. She went on to explain how Breanne wins over Ashlen because her nose is a little smaller and she walks straighter, has a better smile, etc. The funniest by far was the comment on how Breanne looks like mommy!
Its a damn good thing the poor little girl didn't inherit those giant horse teeth Mrs Sterling! At first I thought your jaws were wired shut, then I realized your top teeth were huge and you couldn't open your mouth all of the way to talk! Do your kids a favor and drop them off at the nearest family members and go staright to a mental institution and check yourself in. Too many people have children for all of the wrong reasons, and somehow TLC finds them and turns them into reality series.

Finally upgraded

My upgrade for my Sidekick was due a year ago this month. I finally upgraded to a Samsung Memoir! The megapixels are better then my digital camera. It has built in GPS, touch screen, and I still kept all of internet options. I cant wait for it to get here.
